Spaced In takes the conventional built in alcove cabinet and makes it brilliant.
By focussing on design, investing in a large workshop with accurate machinery and developing an environmental, sprayed lacquer finish the typical issues with carpenter work are avoided whilst maintaining the advantage of a local, flexible and truly bespoke product.
The design starts with how the room is used. Filling the space either side of a chimney breast with a deeper cupboard at the bottom and shelving above has become the standard for the good reason that it works. However you may not have a conventional space yet still have books, ornaments and pictures to display and a TV you’d like to watch at a convenient height without also looking at a mess of cables and a pile of electrical boxes. In tandem with a discussion on how the room will ideally be used is the question of style. Do you want traditional mouldings to match a Victorian home; a plainer style like shaker; minimal to disappear or a postmodern mix to reflect modern lives lived in traditional spaces? Some clients will have a clear idea what they want where others will be wanting advice on some or all aspects. Either is fine by us.
We use a white finished board as standard for the inside but are happy to supply a wide range of decors as well as lighting, glass, mirrors, drop down, push open, soft close, pull out or any other feature which will add to the convenience of your design. We can even supply bespoke metal knobs!
After the initial meeting or online enquiry Spaced In provides a detailed quotation. If this is acceptable then an accurate scale drawing is provided of the inside and outside to make sure that what you want is what you get.
Installation of your alcoves takes place around six weeks from receipt of 1/3 deposit with balance due on happy completion. As a guide a pair of Victorian alcove units costs approximately £2,500.
We concentrate on Tooting SW17 where the workshop is based and the surrounding areas of SW London including Tooting Bec, Balham, Clapham, Wandsworth, Earlsfield, Streatham, Colliers Wood and Wimbledon.
